Describing Places

To describe your town, you will use い-adjectives and な-adjectives. You can modify these with adverbs like 'very' (とても) or 'not very' (あまり).

Use とても (very) before an adjective to increase intensity. Use あまり (not very) with a negative verb form to express that something is not quite to a certain degree.

When a state changes, use くなる (for い-adjectives) or になる (for な-adjectives/nouns). For example, 'it became quiet' is 静かになりました.

Tip

Remember: い-adjectives end in 'i', while な-adjectives usually do not. When using な-adjectives in the past tense or with 'ni naru', drop the 'na' and add 'ni'.
