Explanation

Reasoning Toolbox

In Japanese, the reason-giving structure changes based on whether you are stating a fact, making an excuse, or listing multiple factors.

Reasonから/ので/ため/せいResult
Use から for subjective reasons, ので for polite/objective explanations, and ため for formal or written contexts. is used when listing multiple reasons to imply there are others, while せい is used specifically to assign blame for a negative outcome.

Tip

Avoid using せい when talking about yourself, as it sounds like you are making excuses. Use it for external factors or when you want to emphasize a negative cause.
