都市(とし)空間(くうかん)と文化(ぶんか)の重層性

都市(とし)という空間(くうかん)は、単なる建築物(けんちくぶつ)の集合体(しゅうごうたい)ではない。それは、無数(むすう)の人々の生活(せいかつ)の痕跡(こんせき)が積み重なり(つみかさなり)、複雑(ふくざつ)に絡み合った(からみあった)文化の重層的(じゅうそうてき)なアーカイブである。古い路地裏(ろじうら)の風景(ふうけい)と、最先端(さいせんたん)の摩天楼(まてんろう)が隣り合わせ(となりあわせ)に存在(そんざい)する都市の景観(けいかん)には、歴史的(れきしてき)な断絶(だんぜつ)と連続(れんぞく)が同時(どうじ)に刻まれている(きざまれている)。私たちは都市を歩く(あるく)とき、無意識(むいしき)のうちにその重層的な記憶(きおく)を読み解き(よみとき)、自らの日常(にちじょう)をその文脈の中に位置づけている(いちづけている)。

The space called a city is not merely a collection of buildings. It is a multi-layered archive of culture where the traces of countless people's lives have piled up and become intricately intertwined. In the cityscape where old back-alley scenes and cutting-edge skyscrapers exist side-by-side, historical ruptures and continuities are inscribed simultaneously. When we walk through the city, we unconsciously decode its layered memories and situate our daily lives within that context. However, when cities are homogenized in the name of redevelopment and historical contexts are discarded, we lose their uniqueness as 'places.' Culture does not exist within efficient space utilization. Rather, it is in places where memories that seem wasteful or irrational, and the modest activities of people have accumulated, that the city's unique cultural depth resides.
