The Ethics and Sustainability of Tourism

Translation

The term "overtourism" has long been established as a social issue. While the surge in tourists brings prosperity to regional economies, it simultaneously harbors a contradiction: it threatens the living environment of residents and invites the destruction of historical heritage. We need to rethink our destinations not merely as objects of consumption, but as communities with which we must coexist. To realize sustainable travel, a reform of the visitor's consciousness is essential. Responsible behavior, such as respecting local culture and customs and minimizing environmental impact, is required. Travel should not be a mere right, but a humble participation in connecting the land's history and nature to the future. A paradigm shift from being a "tourist" to a "visitor" will define the future of travel.
