The Boundary Between Travel and Daily Life

Translation

In the past, travel was an escape into the extraordinary. By stepping into unknown lands and filling our lungs with the atmosphere of different cultures, we attempted to redefine ourselves. However, in the modern era, the definition of travel has undergone a transformation. With the spread of remote work, working while traveling has become normalized, and travel has now been incorporated into the extension of daily life. This blurring of boundaries has dramatically changed the quality of travel. The travel of the past—merely touring and consuming tourist spots—is fading, and 'stay-based' travel, where one puts down roots in the local life, is becoming the mainstream. Perhaps what we are truly seeking is not mere visual stimulation, but the modest sense of fulfillment that comes from living out our daily lives in an unfamiliar place.
