Business card exchange etiquette
Translation
In the Japanese business scene, exchanging business cards with people you meet for the first time is very important. Business cards are considered as important as the person's own face. When handing over a card, hold it with both hands so the text faces the other person, and state your name. When receiving a card, accept it with both hands and say 'Chodai itashimasu' politely. It is good manners to place the received card on the table rather than putting it immediately into your pocket. Although digital business cards are increasing, face-to-face exchange is still the first step in building a relationship of trust.
