場 (place) + 合 (join) — where conditions join, that's the case.

Example sentences

• 雨の場合、試合は中止します。

  あめのばあい、しあいはちゅうしします。

  In case of rain, the game will be canceled.

• そんな場合は珍しい。

  そんなばあいはめずらしい。

  Such a case is rare.
