Attach 側 to a noun like 右 (right) or 向かい (opposite) to point out which side.

  みぎがわにまがってください。

  Please turn to the right side.

• 向かい側に郵便局があります。

  むかいがわにゆうびんきょくがあります。

  There is a post office on the opposite side.

Usage

Attaches to direction/party nouns; the similar word 側 (そば) means "near, beside."
