違反

How to remember it

違 (differ/wrong) + 反 (oppose) = going against a rule, i.e. a violation.

• スピード違反で捕まった。

  すぴーどいはんでつかまった。

  He was caught for a speeding violation.

• 規則違反は許されない。

  きそくいはんはゆるされない。

  Rule violations are not tolerated.

Usage

Common in 交通違反 (traffic violation); takes する to mean "to violate."
