How to remember it

'Iri' (enter) + 'guchi' (mouth) = the mouth where you go in.

Example sentences

• 入口はあちらです。

  いりぐちはあちらです。

  The entrance is over there.

• 店の入口に人が並んでいる。

  みせのいりぐちにひとがならんでいる。

  People are lined up at the store entrance.

Usage

Direct opposite of 出口 (exit); common on signs with an arrow.
