How to remember it

The kanji 被 (receive) pictures covering one's head; used for hats and taking on blame.

寒いから帽子を被って出かけなさい。
さむいからぼうしをかぶってでかけなさい。
It's cold, so wear a hat when you go out.
彼は会社の責任を被ることになった。
かれはかいしゃのせきにんをかぶることになった。
