関 (barrier) + 係 (connect) — things connected across a gate or boundary.

Example sentences

• この問題は私には関係がない。

  このもんだいはわたしにはかんけいがない。

  This problem has nothing to do with me.

• 二人の関係はだんだん深まっている。

  ふたりのかんけいはだんだんふかまっている。

  The relationship between the two is gradually deepening.

Usage

Suru-verb too: 関係する; common with に (〜に関係なく) and が ある/ない.
