How to remember it

The opposite of 借りる (to borrow): 貸す gives outward, 借りる takes inward.

• 友達に本を貸しました。

  ともだちにほんをかしました。

  I lent a book to my friend.

• ペンを貸してください。

  ペンをかしてください。

  Please lend me a pen.
