How to remember it

Picture a row of houses; each roof you pass is one 軒, or 'ken'.

Example sentences

• 隣に三軒の家がある。

  となりにさんけんのいえがある。

  There are three houses next door.

• この町には百軒以上の店がある。

  このまちにはひゃっけんいじょうのみせがある。

  This town has over a hundred shops.

Usage

Counter only; precede with a number (一軒、二軒) and attach の to the noun.
