How to remember it

見 (see) + つく (attach) — once it attaches to your eyes, it's found.

Example sentences

• 鍵が見つかりました。

  かぎがみつかりました。

  The key was found.

• 新しい店が駅の近くに見つかった。

  あたらしいみせがえきのちかくにみつかった。

  A new shop was found near the station.

Usage

Intransitive; the discovered thing is the subject marked by が.
