How to remember it

Adding お makes things polite — think "oh, how nice" before a noun.

  Please have some tea.

• お名前は何ですか。

  おなまえはなんですか。

  What is your name?

Usage

Prefixes native Japanese words (お); ご is used for Chinese-origin (kango) words.
