表 — the face shown to the outside (おもて), hiding the 裏 (back).

• この服は表と裏が逆だ。

  このふくはおもてとうらがさかだ。

  This shirt is inside out.

• 家の表に花を飾った。

  いえのおもてにはなをかざった。

  I decorated flowers at the front of the house.

Usage

Opposite of 裏; used for fabric sides, surfaces, and public-facing aspects.
