The kanji 多 stacks one "many" on another — many on top of many.

Example sentences

• 今日は客が多いです。

  きょうはきゃくがおおいです。

  There are many customers today.

• 日本は雨が多いです。

  にほんはあめがおおいです。

  Japan has a lot of rain.

Usage

Predicative only; for "many X" before a noun, use たくさんの.
