終る

How to remember it

Same root as 終わり (owari, 'the end') — when something comes to its end, it's owari.

  しごとがおわりました。

  My work has finished.

• 授業は五時に終わります。

  じゅぎょうはごじにおわります。

  The class ends at five o'clock.

Usage

Intransitive; the subject is what ends (e.g. 仕事が終わる).
