How to remember it

受け (receive) + 取る (take) = to take hold of something handed to you.

Example sentences

• 荷物は明日受け取ります。

  にもつはあしたうけとります。

  I will receive the package tomorrow.

• メールを受け取ったら、返信してください。

  メールをうけとったら、へんしんしてください。

  Please reply once you receive the email.

Usage

Takes を for the thing received; also means to accept or interpret a message.
