分 (divide) — you "divide" an idea into parts until you can grasp it.

Example sentences

• 日本語が分かりますか。

  にほんごがわかりますか。

  Do you understand Japanese?

• この問題がよく分かりません。

  このもんだいがよくわかりません。

  I don't really understand this problem.

Usage

Intransitive; what is understood is marked with が, not を.
